Rhododendron heads 16 in Oaks field

Enable and Frankie Dettori win the Cheshire Oaks

Rhododendron and Enable star amongst 16 fillies still in contention for the Investec Oaks at Epsom on Friday.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Rhododendron is a hot favourite to claim Classic glory at the second attempt after she failed to reel in stablemate Winter in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The Ballydoyle handler has also left in Alluringly, Asking, Hydrangea, Pocketfullofdreams and Rain Goddess at the confirmation stage as he goes in search of a seventh Oaks success.

O'Brien's son, Joseph, has given Intricately the option of running.

John Gosden, who broke his Oaks duck with Taghrooda in 2014, appears to have the main hope for the home team in Enable, who impressed in the Cheshire Oaks on her latest appearance.

The Clarehaven handler could also saddle Coronet, who was third in the Prix Saint-Alary at Deauville a few weeks ago.

Prix Saint-Alary winner Sobetsu is one of two possible Godolphin representatives along with Jim Bolger's Bean Feasa, who is set to contest the Irish 1,000 Guineas on Sunday.

Other possibles include the Roger Charlton-trained Natavia, Kenny McPeek's American raider Daddys Lil Darling and Horseplay from the yard of Andrew Balding.
