FRESH from siring the first three home in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, perennial champion Galileo supplied the one-two in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket on Friday.

Rhododendron ran out the comfortable winner by two and a quarter lengths from Ballydoyle stablemate Hydrangea.

As well as both fillies being by Galileo and trained by Aidan O'Brien, they are both also out of mares by Pivotal – Classic heroine Halfway To Heaven in the case of Rhododendron, while Group 2 Prix du Chene scorer Beauty Is Truth is the dam of Hydrangea.

Rhododendron, third in the Moyglare Stud Stakes last time out, was bred by Coolmore associates Orpendale, Chelston and Wynatt – also the breeders of Arc winner Found.

Halfway To Heaven is also the dam of Group 3 International Stakes winner and Group 2 Futurity Stakes second Flying The Flag, Cork maiden winner Just Gorgeous and hurdles scorer Hanover street, all by Galileo.

The mare – who won the Irish 1,000 Guineas, Nassau Stakes and Sun Chariot Stakes and finished third in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Matron Stakes – has been mated with Galileo in every year of her paddocks career. She has a yearling filly but no foal.

Halfway To Heaven was bred by Trevor Stewart out of his fine racemare Cassandra Go – a daughter of Indian Ridge trained by Geoff Wragg to win the King George Stakes, Temple Stakes and King's Stand Stakes – and was sold to Coolmore as a yearling at Goffs for €450,000.

Cassandra Go has also produced Group 3-winning sprinters Theann (dam of US Grade 1 winner Photo Call, by Galile0) and Tickled Pink, as well as Neverletmego, who produced German Listed winner Best Regards.

Cassandra Go is a half-sister to Coventry Stakes winner and Group 1 sire Verglas and to Listed winner Persian Secret.

Rhododendron is the third consecutive winner of the Fillies' Mile by Galileo, following Together Forever and Midning.

She is also one of 12 Group/Grade 1 winners for Coolmore kingpin Galileo this year alone, following Alice Springs, Churchill, Deauville, Found, Highland Reel, Minding, Mondialiste, Order Of St George, Seventh Heaven, The Gurkha and The United States.

Galileo's progeny earnings in Europe in 2016 now stand at more than £14 million – a street clear of his closest pursuers Dubawi on around £4.8m and Sea The Stars on around £4m.
