Lil Rockerfeller is on course to defend his title in the Totepool National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell on February 26 ahead of a trip to the Cheltenham Festival.

Lil Rockerfeller will run in the National Spirit again

The six-year-old is reported to be back in top form after being under par when disappointing his trainer Neil King in the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham on New Year's Day.

King is keen to return Lil Rockerfeller to Prestbury Park for the Sun Bets Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham next month.

"I thought he'd win that race on New Year's Day and he came back a sick horse, so he had an excuse for it," the Wiltshire handler told At The Races.

"He was always going to have a break after that. He's now back in great form and he worked really nicely on Friday morning.

"We want to go to the National Spirit at Fontwell first, a race he won last year.

"He'll do another bit of work at the weekend and hopefully go there."
