Ruby Walsh back in the saddle for Cork win
Ruby Walsh had an armchair ride on his return from a crashing fall on Friday with a facile victory on Bamako Moriviere in the Online Ticket Sales At corkracecourse.ie hurdle.
It was his only mount on the card as he got back into action following a heavy spill at Bellewstown on Thursday that left him stiff and sore.
It was expected to be a cakewalk for Bamako Moriviere, who was sent off the 1-12 favourite after finishing down the field in the Galway Hurdle, and so it proved against three rivals.
In command from the start, the Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old was never put under severe pressure and won with plenty to spare by five and a half lengths from My Painter.
Walsh said: "We had toyed with the idea of going chasing with him, but Willie spotted the race. He had such a tough task in the Galway Hurdle – top weight in it was always going to be hard, so it was nice to find a race for him to get his head back in front.
"He does handle good ground – his form wasn't great last winter, but he is stronger now and maybe he'll handle it. But I'd imagine unless we find another suitable hurdle race, he could go chasing."
