Russell pair set for Kelso

Lucinda Russell has targeted Imjoeking at the opening Kelso meeting of the autumn on Wednesday night.

Lucinda Russell has a couple of chances at Kelso

The Arlary raider faces five rivals in the Jail Dornoch Supporting MS Handicap Chase at the borders venue.

Russell, who recorded an impressive 24 per cent strike-rate at Kelso in 2015-16, said: "We're bringing him back in trip to two miles as he hasn't seemed to be staying during the summer.

"He's a horse that jumps very well and hopefully he'll run a pretty decent race."

One of the main opponents to Imjoeking is Theflyingportrait who has two impressive victories at Perth to his name for Staffordshire handler Jennie Candlish.

The Russell team are also represented by Vengeur de Guye in the Principal & Prosper Handicap Hurdle.

"We ran him in a chase at the Galway Festival at the end of July and we've decided to go back over hurdles," Russell added.

"It's his first hurdle race for a couple of years and he has an each-way chance."

In the same contest Nicky Richards runs an interesting contender in the shape of Mardale, a mare who has won twice at Perth this spring and summer.

The fixture is the latest included in the free entry initiative run by Racing UK and Scottish Racing for all 15 meetings in September in Scotland.
