Salisbury: Lost a race on Wednesday due to rain

Though the rest of the track is fit for purpose, the one-mile PKF Francis Clark British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden was abandoned "due to areas of unstable ground".

A "vulnerable" part of the course between a mile and seven furlongs was found to have been heavy, waterlogged in places, after clerk of the course Jeremy Martin staged a 7am inspection on Monday.

A tweet issued by Salisbury racecourse read: "Despite the loss of the one-mile race, other races @salisburyraces on Wed are fine – going for the rest of the course is Soft, Good to Soft in places."
