Sam Twiston-Davies ruled out

Sam Twiston-Davies will not make his comeback at Cheltenham's Open meeting this weekend on medical advice.

Sam Twiston-Davies will have to wait a little longer to return

Paul Nicholls' retained jockey had hoped to be passed fit and be allowed to return action after being sidelined with a damaged spleen he sustained in a fall at Chepstow on October 9.

Twiston-Davies has been riding out for the last two weeks and has been working hard on his fitness in an effort to be back in the saddle for the biggest fixture of the season so far.

He passed all of the fitness tests, but Dr Jerry Hill, chief medical adviser to the British Horseracing Authority, has told him he must have a CT scan.

"I was told I have to go for a CT scan next week in London, at the BHA's expense. That's the next step they wanted to take," said Twiston-Davies.

"Hopefully I'll be back soon. It's frustrating especially after I've worked so hard trying to make my deadline.

"I've not made the deadline I wanted and it's hard to reset your focus and find the motivation you had then to get going again, but I'll do it and hopefully refocus on next weekend."
