DAVIDOFF, the somewhat obscure sire of Willie Mullins' Grade 1-winning novice hurdler Saturnas, has been brought into the heart of Normandy breeding having started his stallion career out on a limb in the Lorraine region in the north-east of France.
The 13-year-old son of Montjeu, formerly based at Haras de la Kammerholz, will stand this season at Larissa Kneip's Haras de Saint-Arnoult at a fee of €3,000.
Davidoff – out of a half-sister to the dam of reigning Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Don Cossack – was a Group 3 winner and finished fifth to Adlerflug in the German Derby.
He has sired relatively small crops in his early years at stud but they have yielded Saturnus, who finished second in the Royal Bond Novices' Hurdle and landed the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown last month.
Cadoudoff and Vivas, both winners for Charlie Longsdon, are also sons of Davidoff.
Davidoff is one of a number of sons of Montjeu excelling as a source of jumpers, along with Authorized, Montmartre, Scorpion and Walk In The Park.
