Sceau Royal lands Elite win

Alan King's Sceau Royal ran out an easy winner of the Stan James Elite Hurdle at Wincanton on Saturday.

Sceau Royal: Wincanton winner

The four-year-old bounced back to winning form at Cheltenham last month and shrugged off a rise in the weights to beat Rayvin Black after closest rival Zubayr fell at the last when looking beaten.

Sceau Royal had loomed up on the bridle when challenging Zubayr between the final two hurdles and only had to be pushed out without being asked for maximum effort to ensure the win.

Alan King's charge was cut to 20-1 from 25-1 for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March with Sky Bet.

Michael Shinners, spokesman for Sky Bet, said: "Sceau Royal is obviously improving fast and has deserved a shot at the highest level after two comfortable wins this term.

"He's thrown his hat into the ring for the top two-mile hurdle races."
