Schiergen contemplates Arc bid

Peter Schiergen is weighing up the options

German Oaks winner Lacazar is likely to test the waters away from home in the Prix de l'Opera at Chantilly on October 1.

Trained by Peter Schiergen, the Alderflug filly was a cosy Group One winner at Dusseldorf on Sunday, with Charlie Appleby's Wuheida only third.

Despite the enticing allowance three-year-old fillies receive in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Schiergen is not contemplating supplementing her for the race.

"I'm not 100 per cent sure where she will run next but I'd imagine it will be a Group One," Schiergen told Press Association Sport.

"I'll have to speak to my owner. We had been considering a Group Two at Baden-Baden but that will probably change.

"The Prix de l'Opera might be the best option for her.

"I wouldn't have thought we'd be supplementing her for the Arc, it is very expensive to do that."
