Sedgefield call fifth inspection
This afternoon's jumps meeting at Sedgefield must pass a fourth course inspection at 12 noon.
Sedgefield are optimistic
Course officials must assess conditions later after a first inspection at 7.30am, and then further checks at 9.30am and 11am, proved inconclusive as "some areas of filled ground are currently frozen".
Temperatures have dropped to as low as minus 3C, but it is forecast to rise to a maximum daytime high of 4C.
A tweet from the racecourse read: "A further inspection will be at 12pm however conditions are improving. We thank you for your patience."
The going is soft, good to soft in places.
Despite conditions improving officials were still not happy enough to give it the green light and called a fifth inspection for 1pm, an hour before the first race.
