The John Gosden-trained colt was described by Frankie Dettori as "the fastest two-year-old I rode last year – and in my life" after a campaign that saw him win Group One prizes in the Middle Park and Prix Morny.
The son of Invincible Spirit also picked up the Group Two July Stakes and Richmond Stakes.
A setback early in his three-year-old season meant he did not return until winning the Group Three Bengough Stakes at Ascot earlier this month, a prep for the Champions Sprint on British Champions Day, in which he finished 10th of 13 to The Tin Man.
Al Shaqab tweeted on Thursday evening: "Champion 2yo #Shalaa retires to Haras de Bouquetot, France for 2017! Stud fee to be announced soon."
