Smad Place set for Cotswold
Smad Place is being lined up for back-to-back wins in next month's BetBright Trial Cotswold Chase.
Smad Place is on course for the Cotswold Chase
Trainer Alan King is giving the nine-year-old a short break before preparing him to become the first horse to win consecutive renewals of the Grade Two prize on January 28.
See More Business is the only two-time winner of the race, in 1998 and 2001, while Many Clouds won in 2015 and was second last season.
The grey failed in his bid to defend his Hennessy crown on his most recent start when finishing an admirable seventh off top weight behind Native River.
King said: "Smad Place is fine. He ran a smashing race in the Hennessy and I was very proud of him as it was run on ground that was not slow enough for him.
"We will give him a little break now and probably aim for the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham. We will just quietly duck and dive with him."
