Smart’s hopes for Mythmaker

Bryan Smart is aiming Mythmaker at the All-Weather Sprint Final at Lingfield on Good Friday.

Beaten a whisker by Lancelot Du Lac in the Listed Cleves Stakes last time out, he certainly reserves his best for the track.

Rated 5lb higher on the all-weather than turf, Smart is still a little in the dark over whether he will get a run or not having not won a qualifier.

Smart said: "He appears to love Lingfield. Whether it's because when he runs there we take him overnight or what, I just don't know, but his form there is very, very good.

"He just got touched off last time by Lancelot Du Lac and he's nearly favourite for the Sprint final. I actually thought it was a dead-heat – it would have been in the days when I was riding before we'd heard of pixels!

"I think we've got to aim our lad at that, he should get in, even though he hasn't won a qualifier.

"He's a super little horse, home-bred by Crossfields, and I also trained the dam (Mythicism) for them.

"He's a half-brother to Tis Marvellous, so she's been a very good mare and I've got his half-sister at home ready for later in the year.

"We've tried him over seven and he didn't get home and he just finds five a bit sharp, maybe at somewhere like Beverley he might get away with five."
