So Mi Dar camp consider Breeders’
A trip to the Breeders' Cup is under serious consideration for So Mi Dar following her narrow defeat in the Prix de l'Opera at Chantilly on Sunday.
So Mi Dar: Could go to the Breeders' Cup next
John Gosden's filly looked every inch a top-class performer when waltzing clear in the Musidora Stakes at York in the spring and while dreams of Classic glory in the Investec Oaks were dashed by injury, she made a stylish return in a Listed race at Yarmouth last month to earn herself a belated tilt at Group One glory on Arc day.
The daughter of Dubawi looked poised to attack early in the straight, but was stuck on the rail at a crucial stage and while she started to make inroads on the leaders once in the clear, it was all too late and she had to make do with minor honours in third behind the James Fanshawe-trained Speedy Boarding and Jim Bolger's Pleascach.
So Mi Dar holds an entry in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week, but connections are favouring a trip to Santa Anita in early November.
Simon Marsh, racing manager for owners Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber, said: "I thought she ran a very good race. Everything was winning off the front over the course of the weekend and unfortunately she just didn't have time to get there.
"She's still finished third in a Group One, I think she's a Group One filly and hopefully she'll have her day.
"We'll see how she comes out of the race and obviously we'll leave it up to John and his team, but I think the Breeders' Cup is something we'll definitely look at.
"I think that race (Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf) would suit her as they'll go a good pace.
"I would say Ascot is very unlikely. She's had two runs in 18 days and Ascot comes up pretty quick.
"If she went to the Breeders' Cup it would be a month after her last run, which is ideal."
