Soft-tissue injury for Johnson
Richard Johnson appears to have emerged relatively unscathed after suffering a heavy fall in the Lavazza Jolie Silver Cup at Ascot.
Richard Johnson (l) suffered an injury in a fall at Ascot
The champion jockey was partnering the Jonjo O'Neill-trained Go Conquer in the competitive handicap chase when he came to grief at the first fence.
The remaining runners bypassed the obstacle on the second circuit as Johnson was attended to by medics and he did not take up his ride on Sternrubin in the Wessex Youth Trust Handicap Hurdle.
It was a day to forget for Johnson after he also fell from both Pull The Chord in the BGC Partners Handicap Chase and from Ballyoptic in the JLT Long Walk Hurdle.
Sarah Hobbs, wife of Johnson's retained trainer Philip, said: "He has gone home and has a soft-tissue injury.
"He has had three falls. The last one was a real humdinger.
"He has brought down our second jockey, Tom O'Brien, twice. I think he was out to get him because he is 10 years younger!
"They all survived, so we are happy."
Johnson has no booked rides at Britain's only National Hunt meeting at Fakenham on Sunday.
