RUMOURS Sole Power would be retired have been quashed with the five-time Group 1-winning sprinter set for another stint in Dubai next spring as a ten-year-old.
The veteran is yet to win in 2016 and was only seventh of 13 in the Group 2 Flying Five at the Curragh this month, but the Group 3 John Guest Bengough Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week is next on the agenda.
Paddy Power, whose family own the star sprinter, says retirement is not under consideration for the nine-year-old who will be making his 50th appearance in a Group race should he turn up at Ascot.
"Sole Power is still loving life and there is absolutely no talk of retirement," said Power. "He's entered this weekend at the Curragh but he won't be running there and he won't be running in the Abbaye either. He will instead go to Ascot for a Group 3 on Saturday week."
'He loves it'
Power dismissed the idea Ascot could be his swansong. "Absolutely not," he said. "He loves it out in Dubai and I had a chat with Dad yesterday and he is keen for him to head out to Meydan again next year.
"I know he hasn't won this year and he used to dominate all the top sprints but he is still running well and has been unlucky. Eddie [Lynam] thought he was as good as ever heading into the July Cup and I'm convinced he would have finished second to Limato there will some luck in running.
"He's still enthusiastic and loves what he does so why would you retire him? Eddie knows him better than anyone and, when he feels the time is right and that he might not be enjoying it anymore, he will call it a day."
