‘Sore’ Cawley facing long layoff
Alain Cawley expects to be out of action for up to eight weeks after dislocating both shoulders in a fall at Kempton on Sunday.
Alain Cawley celebrates with Joncol after landing the Hennessy Gold Cop at Leopardstown
Cawley was riding Surf And Turf in the two-and-a-quarter-mile handicap chase when he was unseated at the ninth fence.
The jockey told At The Races: "It's not as bad now as what you'd expect it to be, but it was fairly sore at the time.
"Another (horse) came and hit my horse and both rolled on top of me, and one of them lay on top of me for a bit.
"I've done my right one before, which I presume is why it's a little bit better than the left, which is still sore.
"The surgeon said a minimum of six to eight weeks because it's both of them.
"I go back to him in three weeks."
