St uncertain for Ces start
Ante-post favourite St Michel is closer to making the cut for the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket on Saturday following the five-day confirmation stage.
St Michel is closer to getting a run
However, Sir Mark Prescott's three-year-old still needs more horses to come out at Thursday's final declaration stage to get into the maximum field of 34.
St Michel has been all the rage for the two-and-a-quarter-mile feature since his eyecatching third place behind Sheikhzayedroad and Quest For More in the Doncaster Cup.
Prescott still has Sea Of Heaven in the second leg of the 'autumn double', with other leading fancies to stand their ground including the David Pipe-trained Starchitect and Hughie Morrison's Sweet Selection.
Tony Martin has taken out both Heartbreak City and Quick Jack, who were at the head of the handicap, but can still call on the likes of Pyromaniac, Moonmeister, Golden Spear and Sweet Company.
The first two from 12 months ago, Grumeti and Oriental Fox, may try again, while among others in the mix are Iain Jardine's duo of Shrewd and Nakeeta, Jarlath Fahey's Jennies Jewel and Renneti, who was fourth last year for Willie Mullins.
