GROUP 3-winning sprinter Strath Burn has been retired from racing and will take up stud duties at Bridge House Stud in County Westmeath next year under the Compas Stallions banner run by Micheal Orlandi.
The four-year-old son of Equiano is out of the winning Irish River mare Irish Light and is a half-brother to several winners including the Group 1-placed Polar Force and the Listed-placed Carnival Queen.
Under the care of Charlie Hills, he finished second in both the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin and the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes as a two-year-old.
At three he landed a 6f maiden at Doncaster before striking in the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury. Making the step up to the highest level for the first time, he finished a short head behind Twilight Son in the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock last year.
In June of this year, he was transferred to the care of Robert Cowell where he finished third on two occasions.
A fee will for Strath Burn will be announced at a later date and he joins Cappella Sansevero on the roster.
