White Chocolate wins at Newmarket under Jamie Spencer

White Chocolate put her previous experience to good use to end the campaign on a winning note in the opening division of the discovernewmarket.co.uk Median Auction Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket.

Having been beaten over a mile on her debut at Newcastle 12 days ago, the 7-2 favourite went one better on her drop back to seven furlongs.

Travelling well into the race on the outside of the field, the David Simcock-trained daughter of Mastercraftsman was forced to knuckle down before getting the better of newcomer Curlew River late on by a head.

Simcock said: "She is an honest filly and we made a plan three weeks ago to take a run then come for this race.

"It was pretty obvious at Newcastle that she needed the mile and coming back here she just about got away with it.

"She galloped all the way to the line and probably found this trip on the sharp side. She should be a fun filly next year when we step her up to 10 furlongs."
