Target horse delights Wigham

Michael Wigham saddled My Target to win the valuable Handicap at Lingfield Park.

Connor Beasley landed a valuable success

Jacob Black took the field along with leading fancy Castle Harbour well placed on his shoulder but both runners were swamped as the field turned for home.

Alfred Hutchinson set sail for the line and kept on in determined fashion with Keystroke for company while Lingfield specialist Grey Mirage looked for room along the inside.

None could match the finishing burst of My Target as the bottom weight hit his stride in the final furlong under a strong drive from Connor Beasley and won going away.

The pair scored at 8/1 by a length from Alfred Hutchinson with Grey Mirage claiming third.

The winning rider told At The Races: "It was really good. He travelled away good.

"Mr Wigham said 'get a lead and have them in your sights when you turn in' and he went about his job really well. I had a good pace to aim at and it helped him really well."

Wigham added: "My Target is a marvellous horse. Basically, they went hard and come from off the pace and won by a length. He is very genuine and that's probably as good as he is.

"We have quite a few for the All-Weather and hopefully we will get a few more winners."
