TATTERSALLS IRELAND has announced the date for its Cheltenham National Hunt Breeze-Up sale, which is scheduled to take place alongside the racing on Friday December 9.
Richard Pugh, director of horses-in-training sales at Tattersalls Ireland, said: “This year it is the intention to have one opportunity for National Hunt Breeze-Up horses and this will be alongside our December Sale at Cheltenham.
“From a purchasers and vendors perspective this seems to be the most suitable time to offer this type of horse. We will restrict the breeze-up to a select 25 horses and intend to begin our inspections from September.
“In 2014 December staged the only breeze-up for National Hunt horses at Cheltenham and produced a competitive environment for this type of horse and we are confident that this will prove similar in 2016.
“We look forward to working with Cheltenham racecourse to ensure we showcase these lots to potential purchasers and look forward to announcing our plans for this sale in due course.”
Notable graduates from the Cheltenham sale include Lord Windermere, a £75,000 purchase from the 2010 renewal, who recorded a pair of Grade 1 successes back at Prestbury Park when landing the 2013 RSA Chase and the 2014 Gold Cup for Jim Culloty.
