THE Thoroughbred Breeders' Association has announced it will be piloting two races in September to support small breeders.

In conjunction with the BHA and racecourses, the races will be for two-year-olds and run over a distance of seven furlongs. It will be open to horses sired by a British-based stallion who was advertised at a fee of £15,000 or less at the time of covering.

The condition races will offer 3lb weight allowances for each £5,000 reduction in the stallion: horses whose sire's nomination fee was £10,000 or less receive a 3lb allowance and those advertised at £5,000 or less receiving a 6lb allowance.

Weight penalties will be issued to winners of previous races.

The first race, open to colts and geldings, will take place at Goodwood Racecourse on September 21, with the fillies edition at Newmarket on September 22.
