THE first foal by top-class middle-distance runner Telescope was born at ten minutes to midnight on Monday at Shade Oak Stud in Shropshire.

The bay colt is out of Lina Gram, a runner-up in a bumper at Hexham on debut and a daughter of St Leger and Ascot Gold Cup winner Classic Cliche.

Peter Hockenhull, owner of Shade Oak Stud, said: "I have been looking forward to Telescope's first foals with tremendous anticipation, hoping that they inherit the fantastic looks of their sire; and this one is simply stunning.

"He is a big, strong bay colt with great bone, a 'ten out of ten' for me. If the others turn out as good then Telescope will be off to a wonderful start as a sire."
