Thief in Flyingbolt frame

Identity Thief could bid to repair his reputation in the Flyingbolt Novice Chase at Navan on February 19.

Identity Thief: Could run next at Navan

Henry de Bromhead's Grade One-winning hurdler looked set to go right to the top over fences after successive victories at Punchestown in the autumn, but it has been far from plain sailing since.

The son of Kayf Tara was expected to put it up to the high-class Min in the Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas, but pulled up lame after a couple of serious jumping errors.

Connections were hopeful he would bounce back to form in last weekend's Arkle Novice Chase, but Identity Thief only made it as far as the first fence before unseating David Mullins.

De Bromhead said: "Identity Thief is getting a bit frustrating. He's well able to jump, but we just need to get his confidence back again. We're considering the Flyingbolt at Navan for him. We'll see how he gets on in his next run and take it from there."

Identity Thief holds entries in both the Arkle Trophy and the JLT Novices' Chase at next month's Cheltenham Festival.
