Third check for Sedgefield

This afternoon's jumps meeting at Sedgefield must pass a third course inspection at 11am.

Sedgefield check for a third time

Course officials must assess conditions later in the morning after a first inspection at 7.30am, and then a further check at 9.30am, proved inconclusive as "some areas of filled ground are currently frozen".

Temperatures have dropped to as low as minus 3C, but it is forecast to rise to a maximum daytime high of 4C.

Trainee clerk of the course Paul Barker said: "The sun has finally come out and the temperature is probably about 1C at the moment.

"We've got an hour before we look again and we just need to see some improvement.

"Racing doesn't start until 2pm."

The going is soft, good to soft in places.
