Thistlecrack continued his education over fences with an easy victory in the Novices' Chase at Cheltenham.

Thistlecrack made it two out of two over fences

It was not all plain sailing for Colin Tizzard's runner though as he survived a bad blunder on the first circuit when taking off too early at an open ditch.

Irish challenger Marinero made the early running but Tom Scudamore decided to take Last season's champion staying hurdler to the front with a circuit left.

From then on Thistlecrack was a little more cautious, giving his fences more respect and though Marinero closed the gap briefly, the issue was never in doubt.

The 1/7 shot won as he liked by three and three-quarter lengths.

Sky Bet left him unchanged for both the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup and King George VI Chase at Kempton at 7/2 and 6/1 respectively.
