Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Sunday August 14
Swish – 14:10 Dundalk
Though she is an odds-on favourite, Swish could still be a good bet in the opener at Dundalk this afternoon seeing as she is some 15 lb clear of her nearest rival on weight-adjusted Timeform ratings based on her good second in a listed race over this trip at Tipperary last time (clear of the rest of the field). Second favourite Grecian Divine looks one that will do better in handicaps, and Swish is expected to justify short odds here and get off the mark at the fifth time of asking.
Master Speaker – 15:10 Dundalk
Many may have already given up on Master Speaker, as he has been unable to justify some fairly short odds on more than one occasion this season (sent off at odds of less than 4/1 on five of his last six starts). He is not doing much wrong in defeat, however, and is worth preserving with back over six furlongs after running right up to his best at Tipperary last time over 5f despite being rushed off his feet slightly. The likes of Tithonus, Trival Path and Vitello (all prominent/front runners) should ensure a good gallop here, and Master Speaker could have the race run to suit his fast-finishing run style.
Stronger Than Me – 16:15 Dundalk
The feature race on the card is a competitive heat full of useful horses. That said, Stronger Than Me looked one to bear in mind when running a career best over a mile at Naas last time, finishing second after conceding first run to the winner. Now back up to this trip at a track he has won at in the past, he looks a good bet, with the race likely to be run to suit given the presence of a few pace forcers. There are plenty of dangers, however, headed by the likes of Ringside Humour and Hurricane Cass.
