Great Wide Open – 18:00 Leopardstown
Great Wide Open might have found her latest run coming too soon but is better judged on his big-field handicap win at Gowran Park in May on quick ground. He has his conditions this evening, should cope with the drop in trip (5f winner last season) and can bounce back with a bang on his return from a short break. C&D winner Captain Power and recent Tipperary scorer Ostatnia head the dangers.
Hit It A Bomb – 19:30 Leopardstown
The unbeaten Hit It A Bomb, winner of the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf on his final start last October, can make a winning return. He is the highest-rated in the field and receives weight from some of the more proven older horses such as stablemate Cougar Mountain, winner of this race last year, and British raider Custom Cut who was a C&D Group 2 winner last season. There looks to be plenty of pace in the line-up which should suit Hit It A Bomb and he can make it four wins in a row.
Windsor Beach improved for the step up to this trip last time, winning comfortably over C&D, and he can defy a 7 lb higher mark to go in again. Quick ground clearly suits and he looks progressive. The majority of these arrive in good form, including a trip of recent winners Vastonea, Mr Ormsby and Park Row, however a bigger threat could be the Joseph O'Brien-trained duo, Jaqen H'ghar and Udogo. The latter will need a strong gallop to be seen to best effect and so the pick may be Jaqen H'ghar who won his final two starts last October and has more to come now stepped up in trip here.Read More at betfair.com
