Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Wednesday August 10
Acclamatio – 17:30 Gowran Park
The Mick Halford-trained Moritzburg has been well supported in the market this morning, and sets the standard with his fairy useful effort when third in a Listed race behind Peace Envoy at Naas in May. However, the colt was disappointing over this trip at the Curragh last time out, and a chance is taken on the newcomer Acclamatio, who has been gelded ahead of his debut, and could well be up to winning on his first outing. Epitaph could be best of the rest after a promising outing at Galway last month.
Adool – 19.00 Gowran Park
Tonight's feature, a Listed contest for fillies and mares, is a race in which Dermot Weld is fancied to extend his impressive recent record. Weld has won two of the last three renewals of this contest, and he can improve that record with Adool. The filly looked a useful prospect when winning on debut at Fairyhouse in June, and followed that up with a very good performance behind two very smart colts in a higher grade at Leopardstown last time out. She can resume winning ways in this lesser grade back against her own sex. Assume put in her best performance yet last time out, and can chase the selection home, ahead of Molly Dolly.
The Yellow Bus – Gowran Park 19.30
Our final selection comes in a highly competitive handicap, where several have claims. Cirin Toinne put in a fairly useful performance on debut and looks open to improvement, but the value may well lie with The Yellow Bus, who knuckled down well to get off the mark at the fifth attempt at Down Royal last month, and could well offer more now going handicapping. Embiyra shouldn't be given up on in this company just yet, and could well hit the frame here.
