Regal Monarch – 14:45 Pontefract
Regal Monarch is better judged on his win over 13f at Newmarket on his penultimate start rather than his second in a muddling three-runner affair at that track over 12f last time. A greater test of stamina (Mysterial and Regal Monarch should go forward and ensure a good gallop) will suit him here, and may see him to better effect. Alan Swinbank has a good record in this race, and Busy Street could be one of the biggest dangers to the three-year-old Regal Monarch.
Cernunnos – 15:00 Southwell
Cernunnos may well have been booked for second when falling at the last in the Summer Plate won by Long House Hall last time, but he still looked to have been running right up to his best, and may be able to bounce back here from that fall. He is preferred to Ballykhan, who eventually made the most of a drop in the weights last time at Perth, after running out with the race at his mercy at Stratford before that. Ballykhan gave his supporters another momentary scare at Perth, hanging right up the run-in, and from a 7 lb higher mark here, he could be vulnerable.
Young Dillon – 15:30 Southwell
Young Dillon was progressive in novice races last season, winning at Market Rasen and Wetherby, and makes plenty of appeal making his handicap debut here today against some more exposed types. He may well be best at this sort of trip, and with Sam Twiston-Davies back on board today, he is preferred to the consistent Dubh Eile, who doesn't appear to have much in hand from this sort of mark.Read More at betfair.com
