Tip of the day: Cher thing
Ian Ogg heads to this evening's all-weather meeting at Kempton Park for today's sportinglife.com racing tip.
George Baker takes the ride on Cherbourg
He did only win one of his 11 starts in France on turf but he won three of his seven on an artificial surface and shaped with evident promise on his debut for Ralph Beckett at Lingfield.
Ridden by Patrick O'Donnell on that occasion, the five-year-old was drawn widest of all and sent off at 10/1 but defied expectations to finish a half length second despite finding trouble in running.
The draw hasn't been an awful lot kinder this evening but he has only risen 1lb in the handicap although he also loses O'Donnell's claim as George Baker takes over in the saddle.
Baker has a surprisingly moderate record for the Hampshire handler (0-7) but I don't think it's worth reading too much into that. Beckett is always a trainer to follow at the Sunbury-on-Thames venue and has his string in fine form with three winners from just six runners in the last fortnight.
Cherbourg is taken to make that four from seven on this drop in class.
