Tip of the day: Punters’ folly
There are several short-priced favourites at Lingfield Park today and Ian Ogg hopes that he's on board the right one!
Fergal O'Brien, trainer of Druid's Folly
If Label Des Obeaux and The Nipper oblige in the first two races at Lingfield today then it could bode badly for the layers with a number of relatively short-priced favourites on the card.
Among them is Druid's Folly who was backed at longer odds than this afternoon's 2/1 when edging out Thomas Shelby at Towcester with the pair 14 lengths clear of the third.
Those behind the winner haven't done an awful lot for the form since although there was nothing wrong with third home Vinnie Lewis' run behind Finian's Oscar at Hereford for all that he was beaten 22 lengths.
Regardless of that, it was the way that Druid's Folly travelled through the race in Northamptonshire that caught the eye as he never looked like doing anything other than winning and it suggests that he has more than enough speed to cope with this drop back to two miles from two miles five.
Relatively unexposed after just six starts under Rules this seven-year-old, who is in his first season for trainer Fergal O'Brien, can continue to make up for lost time and make light of the ground and his initial handicap mark.
