KARL BURKE reckons the effects of a long season caught up with Quiet Reflection on Champions day at Ascot and is already looking forward to 2017 for the dual Group 1 winner.

He refuses to blame the ground for the fact his filly, who had earlier landed the Commonwealth Cup and 32Red Sprint Cup on a soft surface, could manage only seventh behind The Tin Man in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot.
Quiet Reflection's 2016 campaign began with victory in a Group 3 event at Chantilly in April and her trainer reflected: "She looked great on Saturday and she got the best turned out, she travelled well but she just didn't quicken like her usual self.
"I wouldn't put it down to the ground, it was an end-of-season run and the form of the horses in our yard has just dipped a little lately.
"But she came home fine and she will be back next year, she definitely stays in training. We will sit down with the owners in the next few weeks and plan a campaign for next season, there is plenty to look forward to."
One race Burke has mentioned as a possible starting point for Quiet Reflection next season is the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan on Dubai World Cup night, which reverts to 6f from 5f in 2017.
