Trophy taken by Cotai Glory

Cotai Glory deservedly got his head in front again in Newbury's five-furlong Group Three Dubai International Airport World Trophy, but only by a matter of inches from the rallying Alpha Delphini.

Cotai Glory: Back to winning ways in Newbury Group Three.

It was Ridge Ranger, second in the same race 12 months ago, who cut out the early pace, but Cotai Glory, second in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier this season, who travelled notably smoothly in behind and passing the furlong-pole George Baker struck for home.

Cotai Glory (5/2) has always had a wayward streak and he started to hang once getting to the lead, but Baker knows him better than any other and he had enough in reserve to deny the rallying Alpha Delphini (9/2) by a short-head, the pair finishing nicely clear.
