THE opening 6f maiden at Goodwood on Saturday plays host to some well-related fillies at 2.10pm.

Twilight Spirit finished third for trainer Tony Carroll at Ffos Las earlier in the month and on pedigree looks to have plenty of potential as a half-sister to two Group -winning sprinters.

The juvenile daughter of Assertive is the seventh foal produced by the triple-winning Bin Ajwaad mare Twilight Mistress whose previous offspring have all been successful including Twilight Spirit's three-year-older sister Spring Fling, a winner over 6f for Henry Candy.

Candy has trained Twilight Mistress's two best foals to date in Twilight Son, winner of this year's Diamond Jubilee Stakes and last season's Sprint Cup, and 2014 Group 3 Hackwood Stakes victor Music Master, who has just completed his first season at Throckmorton Court Stud.

Clive Cox sends the Foxwedge filly Glacier Point to the West Sussex racecourse for her first start and the Whitsbury Manor Stud-bred juvenile certainly has the breeding to make into a smart sprinter.

A half-sister to triple 5f winner Clouds Rest, a daughter of Showcasing, Glacier Point is out of the Compton Place mare Ahwahnee, a twice-raced sister to Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes winner Godfrey Street and half-sister to 2010 Prix de l'Abbaye victress Gilt Edge Girl.

Further back, it is the family of another French Group 1 winner in 2009 Prix Morny hero Arcano as well as this season's Group 2 Curragh Cup and Listed Queen's Vase scorer Sword Fighter.

Daughter of Music show in action at Beverley

Ten minutes earlier, the 7½f fillies' maiden at Beverley sees Show Me The Music bidding to improve upon her promising debut for Richard Fahey when the daughter of Dubawi finished third behind the Frankel filly Aljezeera at Doncaster.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, the Jaber Abdullah-owned filly is the first foal out of his 2010 Falmouth Stakes heroine Music Show who was also placed three-times as the highest level.

Music Show is not the only top-class performer close up in the pedigree as the daughter of Noverre hails from the family of US Grade 1-winning mares Gorgeous, Swift Temper and Turbulent Descent.

Cheveley Park hold strong hand in Newmarket maiden

Newmarket's first race at 1.50pm features a couple of blue-blooded juveniles bred by Cheveley Park Stud in Mazyoun and Vaulted in the 6f maiden.

Mazyoun, a son of freshman sire Mayson, was placed sixth on debut for Hugo Palmer at the Qatar Goodwood Festival where he carried the colours of Al Shaqab Racing, having been purchased at last year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 115,000gns.

Out of the Machiavellian mare Hypnotize, winner of the 7f Listed Star Stakes, Mazyoun is a three-parts brother to Hooray, a daughter of Invincible Spirit who was crowned champion European two-year-old filly in 2010 following three Group race victories including the Cheveley Park Stakes.

Vaulted hails from one of Cheveley Park Stud's most prolific families so it is little wonder that the Newmarket breeding operation have retained the daughter of Kyllachy.

Placed third on both her starts for Richard Fahey, she is a half-sister to six winners. These include Group 2 May Hill Stakes heroine Spacious, who was placed six-times at Group 1 level and was represented by her first winner as a broodmare on Friday when juvenile filly Spatial scored at Newmarket, and the triple Canadian Grade 2 victor Dimension.

Vaulted is the tenth foal produced by four-time 7f winner Palatial, a Green Desert half-sister to Listed scorers Ice Palace and Portal.
