Twiston-Davies itching to return
Sam Twiston-Davies should know on Thursday whether he will be able to return to action for Cheltenham's Open meeting this weekend.
Sam Twiston-Davies: Hoping to get the green light to return.
The jumps jockey has been riding out for the last two weeks and has been working hard on his fitness in an effort to be back in the saddle for the biggest fixture of the season so far.
Twiston-Davies, retained by champion trainer Paul Nicholls, has been sidelined since suffering a damaged spleen in a fall at Chepstow on October 9.
"I'm working hard in the gym, but I'll know more on Thursday," he said. "I've been riding out every day this week and most of last week as well.
"I don't know if I'll be back for the weekend yet. It will be the doctor's decision.
"They put me off for six weeks, I've passed all the fitness tests so it's whether they go on that or whatever the doctor's advice is. I don't know. We should get the answers on Thursday.
"It's not ideal to miss any time of the season and it's frustrating to miss it out now."
