Two yearlings tie for top lot at Baden Baden By Bloodstock World Staff 8:51PM 21 OCT 2016

TWO yearlings who cost €49,000 each tied for top-lot honours in the first session of the BBAG October Sale in Baden Baden on Friday.

The first to hit that price was an Areion three-parts sister to Italian Derby winner Feuerblitz and sister to Group 3 Prix Perth scorer Flamingo Star from breeder Marlene Haller.

The purchaser was Stall Nizza, owner of Nightflower, a daughter of Dylan Thomas who has won the last two renewals of the Group 1 Preis von Europa.

Stall Nizza's silks have also been carried by German Derby winners Nicaron and Nutan, Italian Oaks scorer Night Of Magic and Grosser Preis von Berlin winner Nymphea.

The €49,000 price was matched by a colt who was the only representative of his sire Dutch Art in the catalogue.

The Gestut Fahrhof-consigned lot is a half-brother to three winners out of the Sadler's Wells mare Tu Eres Mi Amore, a sister to Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Sequoyah, later the dam of Classic hero Henrythenavigator, and to champion two-year-old filly Listen.

Swiss bloodstock agent Andi Wyss was the winning bidder.

Another highlight of the first day's action was the winning Kallisto mare Josefine, offered by Gestut Gorlsdorf in foal to its German Derby-winning stallion Sea The Moon.

Gestut Etzean paid €43,000 for the relation to Listed winners Jardina, Joyce and Juvena.

Gestut Brummerhof have €40,000 for a Maxios yearling filly from the family of German champion two-year-old Tai Chi from Gestut Ohlerweiherhof.
