UTTOXETER remains hopeful despite calling an inspection for 7.30am on Saturday due to low temperatures and the overnight forecast.

The going is currently heavy, with the whole course covered by fleeces on Wednesday.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore reported there was no frost currently in the ground but the forecast for Friday night into Saturday morning suggested an frost is possible.

He said on Friday: "The track is covered in fleece and there is no frost in the ground, we are raceable. It is forecast to be between -1C and -3c tonight then getting up to 2C or 4C on Saturday.

"If we get the best of both worlds then there will be no problem, if we have the worst of both worlds then hopefully the fleece will do its job.

"We are hopeful."
