Varian happy with Postponed

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe favourite Postponed is reported to be thriving ahead of the Chantilly showpiece on October 2.

Postponed is pleasing trainer Roger Varian

The Roger Varian-trained five-year-old has enjoyed a perfect season to date, winning three Group Ones in succession, including the Coronation Cup and the Juddmonte International.

Varian said: "Postponed is doing fine and all his preparations are going well. I'm pleased with him. He is where he needs to be and is on schedule for the Arc."

Assessing potential opposition, Varian was a keen onlooker of last weekend's Qipco Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, won by Almanzor from Aidan O'Brien's seemingly Arc-bound Found and her stablemate Minding.

Dermot Weld's dual Derby winner Harzand was only eighth, but while he got a knock during the race, connections are hopeful he will make it to France.

Varian added: "It's going to be a strong race and there are lots of horses I respect. I thought the race at Leopardstown was fascinating, although it was quite a rough race.

"It's a short straight at Leopardstown and I would not condemn the horses that didn't win there."
