Varian plots Royal appearance

Roger Varian is planning a route to Royal Ascot

Roger Varian is eyeing up a return trip to Ascot and the Royal meeting for Saturday's impressive winner Appeared.

The Duke of Edinburgh Handicap is now on the agenda after he won on his seasonal reappearance by four and a half lengths.

It was his first start since being gelded and Varian believes the key to him could be time between his races.

"Appeared won very well at York last year and probably needs a bit of space between his races," Varian told www.varianstable.com.

"He likes fast ground so with the unpredictable weather we came here rather than wait for a more valuable race at York next week.

"All being well, I would like to take him back for the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot."
