VEGAS SHOWGIRL, the dam of Australian superstar mare Winx, delivered a Snitzel half-sister to the six-time Group 1 winner at Segenhoe Stud in Australia on Saturday evening.

The filly was bred by Winx's breeder John Camilleri, who sold the daughter of Street Cry as a yearling for A$240,000 (£139,631/€161,630) in 2013, and is the fifth foal out of the Listed-winning daughter of Al Akbar. She is also a sister to Group 3 hero El Divino.

The new arrival was born on the same day that Winx made a winning return to the track when landing the Group 2 Warwick Stakes at Randwick racecourse.

At the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale earlier this year a Snitzel colt out of Vegas Showgirl was bought by Gai Waterhouse and Julian Blaxland on behalf of a group of owners that include Camilleri, Angelo Konstantatos, David Healey and Emirates Park's Hussain Lootah A$2.3 million (£133,741,206/€154,903,595).

Speaking to the Australian Daily Telegraph, Camilleri said the newborn filly is not for sale at any price and that "there would need to be a compelling reason for me to part with her."

Camilleri added: "It was a memorable day. Vegas Showgirl has been ready to foal for some days now and for it all to happen on Saturday was amazing.

"I got the call from Peter O'Brien [general manager at Segenhoe Stud] at midnight to tell me the mare had foaled and the filly was doing well. It was a relief more than anything.

"This newborn filly is also a lovely, very correct foal. Although no decision has been made as to who Vegas Showgirl will go to this spring Snitzel would have the inside running."
