Veterans target for George duo

Tom George is hoping the rain stays away to boost the chances of Saint Are and Forgotten Gold in the 32Red Veterans' Handicap Chase Final at Sandown on Saturday.

Forgotten Gold is on course for Sandown

The seasoned pair have had this valuable contest as their objective for some time and the Slad trainer is just looking for a bit of help from the weather.

"They are both in good form. It would be helpful if the rain stayed away," said George.

"This has been their target and then we'll give them a bit of a break until the spring," said George.

He is not the only trainer doubly-represented at the entry stage in the £100,000 affair, for which there are 22 possibles.

Rocky Creek, who defied a big weight to win the London National at the Esher track last month, leads Paul Nicholls' two-pronged assault with Aerial his other entry.

Charlie Longsdon can choose from Loose Chips and Pete The Feat and Venetia Williams has Aachen and Bennys Mist.

Shuil Royale, Dynaste, Gas Line Boy, Cloudy Too are among others in the mix, while the Gordon Elliott-trained Realt Mor is the only Irish entry.
