HARAS de la Hetraie has an intriguing new recruit to its stallion roster for 2017 in the shape of Walzertakt, a Group 2-winning son of Montjeu.
Walzertakt was bred by Gestut Schlenderhan out of the Group 2-winning Kingmambo mare Walzerkoenigin, making him a half-brother to German Derby hero Wiener Walzer and Beresford Stakes winner Port Douglas.
The seven-year-old won the Group 2 Prix Maurice de Nieuil over 1m6f and Group 3 Prix Gladiateur over an extended 1m7f at Longchamp last year.
His appeal as a jumps stallion is enhanced by the record of his sire Montjeu in that sphere. Montjeu has supplied outstanding hurdler Hurricane Fly and Triumph Hurdle scorer Ivanovich Gorbatov, while his sons Authorized, Montmartre, Scorpion and Walk In The Park have also provided Grade 1 winners.
A fee for Walzertakt will be announced at a later date.
