Weld on weather watch ahead of Champion Stakes

Harzand's main autumn objective is the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

Dermot Weld is keeping an eye on conditions at Leopardstown ahead of Harzand's possible return to action in the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on 10 September.

The going at the Dublin track is currently on the fast side and the Rosewell handler would not want to run the English and Irish Derby hero unless there was sufficient cut in the ground.

Harzand's main autumn objective is the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Chantilly on 2 October, for which he is second-favourite at around 6-1 behind market leader Postponed.

"Harzand is very well, but he likes a little ease in the ground and Pat Keogh (Leopardstown chief executive) says it is fairly quick at the moment," said Weld.

"We'll see what conditions are like, but I'm very happy with him at the moment."
