Wetherby return for Zeroeshadesofgrey
Zeroeshadesofgrey could return to Wetherby for another novice chase after opening his account over fences in smooth style there last week.
Zeroeshadesofgrey: Could return to Wetherby
Neil King's smart stayer had no trouble defeating his main market rival Royal Vacation in the three-mile contest, in which the other two runners failed to complete.
It was Zeroeshadesofgrey's second run over the bigger obstacles with the first coming in the very same race 12 months earlier when he finished to Southfield Royale.
The seven-year-old had returned to hurdles after that as King was not totally happy with the horse and it was found he was suffering from a kissing spine. That problem has been treated and the Newmarket trainer is now looking forward to the rest of the campaign.
"He's come out of the race really well, in top form," said King.
"I'd have been hugely disappointed if he'd gone there and not won his race. Driving up there I thought the only thing that would get in his way was the fences.
"He did win it very cosily and he's come home absolutely fine.
"I'm not sure where we'll go with him, but we could go back to Wetherby for another novice chase at the end of the month.
"Like so many, he'll be so much better when it rains. He wants softer ground, really.
"I've always held him in high regard. We had a problem with a kissing spine which we've had sorted out and we've got the proper horse back now."
