Wolf handed Ascot assignment
Wolf Of Windlesham could bid to make amends for a fall last time out in Ascot's Wessex Youth Trust Handicap Hurdle on December 17.
Wolf Of Windlesham: Fell when in the shake-up for the Greatwood
Stuart Edmunds' runner was still travelling with ease approaching the penultimate flight in the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham when he hit the obstacle and crashed out.
Edmunds reports the four-year-old to be none the worse for that mishap and has set his sights on the Ascot Grade Three, via a possible all-weather outing in the two-mile 32RedSport.com Handicap at Kempton on Wednesday.
The trainer said: "He was going very well in the Greatwood, he just clipped the top of the hurdle and then just couldn't get his landing gear out in time at that speed.
"He's entered in the old Ladbroke at Ascot on December 17 and that's where we are planning to go.
"He will probably have a run on the Flat at Kempton on December 7. I've entered him and it would be nice for him to have a spin out and give him a little bit of a confidence boost.
"He's schooled well since Cheltenham, that's not been an issue, so hopefully he can go well at Ascot."
