THE rise to fame of Australian sire Written Tycoon has been recognised by the breeders of Black Caviar, as the outstanding sprinter's dam Helsinge is the first mare he will cover at Woodside Park Stud in Victoria this southern hemisphere breeding season.
Helsinge, a 15-year-old daughter of Desert Sun, produced unbeaten 25-time winner Black Caviar for Gilgai Farm, as well as four-time Group 1 hero All Too Hard and Sun Stud sire Moshe.
Last October the mare produced a filly by Canford Cliffs and in 2013 she delivered a filly by Casino Prince, so a sister to All Too Hard.
Written Tycoon, a son of Iglesia, was Australia's champion first-season sire of 2010-11 but had endured a relatively quiet spell before he shot to prominence in the last year by supplying Golden Slipper winner Capitalist and fellow Group 1 winners Luna Rossa and Music Magnate.
His fee at Woodside Park Stud was increased to A$49,500 for the coming season, up from A$19,800 last year.
