Yucatan backed for Doncaster
Backers of Racing Post Trophy favourite Capri will have been alarmed to see strong support for stablemate Yucatan on Wednesday morning.
Capri beats Yucatan in the Beresford Stakes – which of the pair will we be seeing at Doncaster?
Three-quarters of a length separated the pair when they finished first and second respectively in the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at The Curragh last month.
The pair were among a total entry of six horses left in by Aidan O'Brien at Monday's five-day stage and Capri, having previously been earmarked for the race, was installed as favourite across the board.
However, bookmakers reported support for Yucatan on Wednesday and by 0930(BST), he was available at no bigger than 3/1, with Capri drifting out to a best-priced 6/4 with Sky Bet, whose spokesman Michael Shinners said: "It is possible sometimes to read too much into these kind of market moves, but what I can say is that there certainly seems an expectation that Yucatan will line up on Saturday and will run very well."
By Galileo out of Breeders' Cup Mile winner Six Perfections, Yucatan certainly has a pedigree to suggest he can perform to Group One standards.
